Alleged Texas Fugitive Child Sex Abuser Arrested in Franklin County

April 10, 2026

Child sex abuse is something that law enforcement authorities all across the US take very seriously. Because of this, alleged abusers regularly attempt to flee a state where they are facing sex abuse allegations, hoping that by relocating, they can leave the charges behind them.

Not all sex abuse allegations are legitimate. From time to time, one spouse involved in a divorce proceeding will erroneously claim that the other spouse sexually abused the couple’s child or children. As awful as it may sound, spouses sometimes make these allegations in order to get what they think will be an advantage when it comes to custody. If you are involved in a custody dispute or divorce proceeding, especially where children are involved, you need an experienced attorney to represent your interests and defend your rights. The LLF Law Firm’s Family Law Team is here and able to help with that. You Can’t Run From the Law

A Texas man recently discovered that it is far from easy to run away from sex abuse allegations when he was arrested by sheriffs in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He was facing charges in Texas of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14. Authorities acted on “credible information indicating that” the defendant “might be in the Chambersburg area.”

This is not unusual. Accused sex offenders regularly try to escape accountability for charges they are facing in one state by fleeing to another state. The FBI often coordinates with local law enforcement in efforts to track and arrest accused individuals who are facing child and other types of sex abuse charges who have moved to other states.

Sex Abuse Allegations as a Weapon in Custody Proceedings

The question of who will have primary or sole custody of any children when a couple is divorcing is often one of the major issues in the case. Even after the divorce, one spouse may go back to court to ask a judge to change the custody terms. As noted above, sometimes a spouse will distort a claim that their ex is sexually abusing the child or children in an effort to gain an advantage in the case. That’s because in Pennsylvania, as in other states, when it comes to issues that relate to the welfare of children, the court’s focus is on what is in the best interests of the child.

If you have been unfairly accused of sexually abusing a child, you need the help of an experienced attorney. These are serious allegations that could not only result in you losing custody but also having a Protection From Abuse (PFA) order entered against you. The allegations could also be referred to law enforcement for potential criminal charges.
